11) Orient the crystal.
Orienting and measuring the crystal on the machine is required only if you will be performing an analytical absorption correction or if you need to index the crystal faces for some other reason. Although you will probably want to skip this step, clicking on "Orient/measure crystal" in the SuperGUI window:

Here you can view the crystal and see the real and reciprocal axes relative to it. You can make axial photographs and determine the indices of the crystal faces etc.
If you feel the need to do this, seek professional help. Otherwise go on to section 12.
